But it doesn’t mean it’s impossible for some Office 365 issues to occur. The important thing here to remember is that not all problems are caused by bugs or inappropriate coding on the vendor site. The more probable option is that the Office 365 issue occurs, and can be fixed on the client-side. Check the version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer and your subscription name and expiry date. Office 365 applications installed on a computer must connect to Microsoft servers over the internet at least once every 30 days for the license to be checked and validated.



If you’re lucky, when you open your formerly balky or misbehaving Windows app, all will be well. You’re working on a document or a spreadsheet, or using email, and BAM! One of your Microsoft Office applications starts acting weird or stops responding. If one or more Office apps is acting glitchy, work your way through this series of repair maneuvers, starting with the simplest.

Common Office 365 Issues and How to Solve Them

If none of the above resolve the problem, there are a few other troubleshooting tactics you can try. Check to make sure you’re connected to the internet, and that your computers date, time, and time zone are accurate. You’ll also want to make sure that you are running the latest version of Office. Next, you’ll want to review firewall settings, and check any anti-virus software that could be blocking the connection to verify the subscription status. Difficulty in updating a SharePoint file with another user

Sign In or Create Your Account Today – Microsoft and sign in with your Microsoft account. From here, review the details under the subscriptions heading or the cancelled subscriptions heading to confirm your subscription. Be sure to restart your Office applications if you have to renew your subscription. If you need to install the 64-bit version, select the PC step-by-step tab and expand the section, "Install or reinstall an Office for business product." Office 365 Service Health is an online tool, available for organizations, accessible only by administrators, in Office 365 Admin Center.

Account or sign in issues

See Uninstall Office for Mac for instructions on uninstalling the Office apps. You can run the Microsoft 365 activation troubleshooter to help you fix activation issues. Office up-to-date ensures that you have the latest security updates and fixes. If your admin has given you permission to install updates, see Install Office updates. If Office is taking a long time to install you may be on a slow connection.

Missing or Corrupted Files

If your computer can't install the full desktop version of Office because your computer doesn't meet the system requirements, you can try using Office Online in your computer's browser.

At the top of your screen, choose Send/Receive, Preferences, Work Offline to change your stats between offline and online modes. If this still does not work, ensure that you are connected to the internet by loading any webpage. If the "Enter Password" window is no longer open, you can navigate to the links below to initiate resetting your password. Some of them allow users to get updates before the main release while others provide updates at a later time. The update channel used by Office 365 depends on your Office 365 subscription plan and on configuration. Uninstall old versions of Microsoft Office from your computer and try to activate Microsoft Office 365 again. Then try to activate the installed Office 365 suite again on your computer. You may need to remove old Microsoft Office licenses from your computer and install a new one. If the above steps have not resolved your issue, open Outlook in Safe Mode to see if the issue is resolved. Type Outlook.exe /safe, and click OK.  If it is not, you may need to reinstall the Office suite completely.
