Outlook Known issues in May 2024 updates

Outlook forwards meeting invitations to other attendees without anyone actually sending an update or forwarding an invite. This happens to accounts that are configured in the iOS Mail app. The issues documented in this section have been reported after installing the recent updates listed below. We're investigating the issues and will update this page when a fix is available. In the meantime, please use the workarounds suggested for each issue. Corrupted or badly set-up Outlook profiles can often cause start-up problems.



Switch your alias to an Outlook.com or Hotmail.com account. In addition, you can export directly into Office 365 mailboxes after recovery with no middle step required. Save the repaired file to PST, MSG, EML, PDF, HTML or export directly to Office 365. Select the corrupted PST or OST using the file picker. Outlook known issues in the Nov 2017 updates

Sometimes, issues can be caused due to a corrupt Outlook OST file. To repair corrupt OST file, you can use the built-in ScanPST.exe tool provided by Microsoft. Alternatively, you can delete or rename the existing corrupt OST file and rebuild the OST file. The colleagues at Bleeping Computer noticed this update and addressed FixTechGuide email error solutions it in this post. This post also mentions the downgrade to an earlier Microsoft 365 build, which was previously described as a workaround.

Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 display wrong languages

You may notice that All, Unread , Mentioned and other sort and filtering options, such as By date, and Newest are missing in Outlook above your email list. Using Cached Exchange Mode in complex environments can lead to painful sync delays. If a user has a large mailbox or lots of folder nesting, syncing might lag or even crash. Let’s look at what causes Outlook to crash, how you can fix it, and a smarter tool that takes a lot of the stress off your plate. On January 16, 2025, an update for Microsoft 365 Apps will be released in the Current Channel, as can be seen from the entry MC in the Microsoft 365 Message Center.

Outlook known issues in the July 2019 updates

• This occurs because custom form script is now disabled by default.
• After installing the September Public Update, Outlook 2007 displays mixed languages in the user interface.
• The loading of unregistered MAPI services has been disabled by default to make Outlook more secure.
• Currently, you can't use Outlook on Windows to edit calendars that are shared with your Outlook.com account, even if you've reconnected your Outlook.com account to Outlook.
• The built-in search will display the message below to indicate it is not using the Windows Search service.
• Whether it’s restoring email from encrypted backups or recovering badly broken PSTs, Stellar gets the job done with minimal fuss.
• If a user has a large mailbox or lots of folder nesting, syncing might lag or even crash.
• It is a feature-rich application that allows users to manage multiple email accounts, calendars, contacts, and tasks.

Please see the ALTERNATIVE WORKAROUND section below. This occurs because custom form script is now disabled by default. Outlook crashes are never good, but you do not have to face them unprepared.

Outlook Known issues in March 2023 updates

I had picked up on this in the blog post Microsoft Outlook 365 or other MS 365 apps are dropping suddenly errors. Microsoft had confirmed the issue for Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Outlook data file cannot be accessed and recommended a downgrade. You can also add the secondary connected accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) in Outlook.com as additional accounts in the Outlook profile. Your antivirus software can also cause issues with Outlook connectivity.

Until you can install the Windows Update fix release, you can set a registry key that will cause Outlook to stop using the local Windows Search service. When this registry key is set, Outlook will use its own built-in search engine. The built-in search will display the message below to indicate it is not using the Windows Search service. To access the calendar shared with your Microsoft 365 for business account, you'll need to accept the invitation from Outlook on the web, iOS, or Android. If you've already clicked the Accept button in Outlook 2016, you won't be able to re-accept the invitation from another Outlook application. The person who sent you the invitation will need to remove your permissions and then send a new invitation.
